Story: As a little girl, I loved summer and going barefoot. The freedom to run, laugh, be with friends, pick flowers, and enjoy the happy non-school days provided ample happy childhood memories. To see a picture of a dandelion floods my mind with those smells, emotions, and sheer delight of running in the wind allowing the breeze to blow away the feathery portions of the dandelion. Childhood was like those dandelions—beautiful to the beholder and yet, quickly passing.
A child running barefoot on a carpet of grass, a dandelion in each hand, I skipped and ran letting the breeze flow through the delicate snowy dandelion sending the petals outward—these were the light-hearted, carefree days of childhood. Where did they go?
Story: On the walk to school, my friends and I blow the dandelions puffs into others faces. We laugh at the annoyed face of the victim, and run to avoid an attack on ourselves. Its fun, annoying and memorable.
Imagine kids walking to school. See the lawns infested with dandelions. The dandelions are seeding, white puffs of fluff. Breath. Put your self into the scene. Hear the laughter of the kids.
Story: This is a little 10 year old Shih-Tzu named Gramps. He is blind, deaf, has arthritis and was abandoned to the shelter. My dad (who we called Gramps) died recently. I found this little dog who was an absolute mess, shy and no telling what his life had been like. My mom who is 85 lives with me. He weighed about 7 lbs when we first got him. Now after 6 months, he weighs about 11 lbs and has slowly come out of his shyness to a family that can make his remaining days full of love.
